I created a series of contemporary images painted in an impressionistic style. The subject was a baker’s dozen donuts, and each oil painting measured 36" x 36". The paintings are fun and colorful but they represent more than just “sweet confections.” The circle is a symbol of eternity and each donut has a single bite taken from different sections. This is like a clock’s hands showing the passing of time. Some years ago I had a health problem that made me rethink my life and the time we all have on this earth. The experience brought me a personal spiritual insight. I hope to bring that insight and a sense of joy to the viewer with this series.
